It's like seeing an old friend: the clanking in the vents over your head, the way the ribbed tail passes over objects with a thunk-ka-thunk-ka-thunk-ka-thunk, the head-within-a-head, the screaming. You are here, you are back, you have been impaled through the abdomen and killed.I have played perhaps 20 minutes of Alien: Isolation 2 at Gamescom 2026 and I can tell you this: it is certainly Alien: Isolation. There are some...
I don't want to get anybody's hopes up, but with BlizzCon 2026 now just over a week away, it really is starting to look like something—possibly something big—is happening in the world of StarCraft. The excitement began earlier this week when Korea's Chosun (Google translated, via WCCFTech) ran a story saying Nexon is close to finalizing a deal to develop a new game based on the StarCraft series. As Chosun noted,...
As Microsoft continues to flail for a remedy to the reputational damage it's incurred as a result of its repeated mass layoffs, bungled industry consolidation strategies, and partnership with Israeli surveillance agencies, its gaming division is returning to a favorite page from its playbook in recent years: Hiking service costs.Today, Xbox announced that it will implement a monthly cap on Xbox Cloud Gaming hours for Game Pass subscribers. Previously, eligible...
Ever since the Control mod appeared I've been enjoying jamming the released DLSS 5 .dll files into a bunch of different games, to greater or lesser effect. Some games it works well in, some it doesn't quite take and you end up with visuals that look a lot like the characters have worms writhing around under their skin.Though, I have to say when I stuck it into the review version...
When a big old tree talks, I listen. He said, "I have a task of great importance," as soon as I opened my eyes, and who was I to turn him down? "Take this note to the King, it should be a short quest," he instructed, and although there is no king in the playtest for A Short Quest, I am eager to fulfill the tree's wishes when the whole...
Los Santos CustomsI'm modding GTA 5 every day in a quest to either transform it into a PC version of GTA 6 or break it entirely. Come back tomorrow to find out what new horrible thing I've done to Rockstar's baby, or check out what I got up to earlier. The problem with Grand Theft Auto 5, really, is that its world lacks verisimilitude. Unlike GTA 6, which will be more...
It took me quite a while to work out all The Blood of Dawnwalker endings. Similar to The Witcher 3, there are a fair few different options, each with a number of variables that can change based on your choices. There are also some secret endings to discover. Obviously, this guide will contain spoilers for just about everything, you've been warned. Here's each ending, how they work, plus a short...
Los Santos CustomsI'm modding GTA 5 every day in a quest to either transform it into a PC version of GTA 6 or break it entirely. Come back tomorrow to find out what new horrible thing I've done to Rockstar's baby, or check out what I got up to earlier.Okay, two things. First: Los Santos Customs will be taking a hiatus next week, as I spend nine days in a...
After a quiet few months, September finally hits the gas, and our list of monthly PC game happenings is filled with brand new adventures, series continuations, 1.0 updates, and events galore. I'm still playing catch-up after Gamescom, and now we've got Tokyo Game Show queued up soon. It's the same schedule every year, but somehow I'm always caught off guard. The Blood of Dawnwalker kicked off the month with a delightfully...
I love lockpicking minigames, especially when representatively they're as far away from the act of lockpicking as possible. While I admire the elegance of Bethesda's bobby-pin/screwdriver system seen in Fallout 4, I'm much more interested in the weirder solutions like Splinter Cell's baffling pin-flicking system, or Gothic Remake's absurdly elaborate sliding puzzle system.I love how developers have tried so many ways to represent the act of lockpicking, and that despite...
