Need an excuse to upgrade your TV? The Super Bowl is right around the corner, happening Sunday, Feb. 9. Even if you don’t watch football, there are countless other ways to justify buying LG’s 65-inch C3 OLED — especially since it has never been more affordable. Originally priced at $1,499.99, you can grab LG’s big 2023 model for $1,196.99 from Amazon. To put this sweet deal into perspective, the 48-inch version of the C3 costs $976.95, so you’re getting almost 20 inches more by paying just a bit more.
We give a lot of love to LG’s B and A series OLEDs, due to the fact that they’re often on sale, and are cheaper entry points into OLED than the C series (the 48-inch B4 is just $599.99 at Best Buy, while the 55-inch B3 is $798 at Walmart). That said, their specs aren’t as impressive as the C3. So, if you’re a “no sacrifices” kind of person who also doesn’t want to break the bank on newer or bigger models, there’s no better choice than the C3 that’s currently discounted. Here are some reasons why:
It has four HDMI 2.1 ports (versus two in the B3, though the B4 has four as well), letting your consoles and PC output at 4K resolution and at up to 120 frames per second. Will the Switch 2 support HDMI 2.1 as the PS5 and Xbox Series X do? Your guess is currently as good as ours, but if it does, Switch 2 games will look their best on the C3.
Next up, the C3 is able to achieve higher brightness levels in both HDR and SDR content compared to LG’s cheaper OLED screens. Having the extra brightness is a very good thing, given that more games, movies, and TV shows support HDR for more realistic (or, if not more lifelike, then simply more dazzling) portrayals of contrast. It also boasts better image processing.
Lastly, the Xbox Cloud Gaming app is headed to select LG televisions in 2025, allowing you to stream Game Pass games straight through your TV. While LG and Microsoft haven’t announced a launch date for the Xbox app, nor has LG confirmed which of its TVs will receive it, I expect the C3 to be among the TVs supported given that the C series has been LG’s most popular lineup for the past handful of years.
