Stardew Valley’s anticipated 1.6 update is officially out for players on Windows PC via Steam, Microsoft’s PC Game Pass, and GOG. But when will players on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and mobile get access to it?
Developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone started teasing content for the 1.6 update in 2023, and Stardew Valley players have been excited to get their hands on the new stuff since. The game hadn’t received an update in a few years; the 1.5 patch was released in 2020.
Stardew Valley players on PC can play the 1.6 update now, while console and mobile players have a bit longer to wait. The wait is no longer a mystery, though — Stardew Valley players on Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X will be able to play the 1.6 update in November.
Where is Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update available currently?
If you own Stardew Valley on macOS, Linux, or Windows PC, your game should be able to update to the 1.6 patch now, since it arrived in March on those platforms. You’ll want to head over to wherever you have access to Stardew Valley — be it Steam, GOG, or Microsoft’s PC Game Pass — and update the game. Since then, Barone has released a bunch of additional updates to fix bugs.
When does Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update come to console and mobile?
Barone announced on Sept. 22 that Stardew Valley version 1.6 will come to Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on Nov. 4.
“I’ve always released on PC first, because it’s sort of a ‘beta test’ to make sure there are no critical (e.g. save-destroying) bugs, which are a much bigger deal on consoles because they can’t be patched out as quickly,” Barone said in response to a Stardew Valley player. “However, I never intended for the delay to be this long.”
When Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update is released on Nov. 4 for console and mobile players, it’ll come fully patched through version 1.6.9.
There’s a ton of new content in the 1.6 update! Some of the highlights include the Meadowlands Farm type; new secrets and Easter eggs; more players in multiplayer; and at least 25 new hats, 280 new pieces of furniture, and moss soup. And oh yes — you can put hats on cats and dogs. For more details, see our overview of the patch notes.
