Arcane season 2 is off to a gorgeous and very intense start. After months of teasers, Netflix finally released our best look yet at the new season on Thursday during its Geeked Week event, and the show looks even better than it did before. The longer clip also announced that the season will release in three Acts, just like season 1, with the first coming on Nov. 9, the second on Nov. 16, and the last one on Nov. 23.
The first season of Netflix and Riot Games’ animated League of Legends series Arcane ended things on a pretty bleak note, and the new clip suggests that tone’s going to continue in the second season. It mostly focuses on Vi, who appears to have quit the Piltover police force. We see Vi brawling in underground boxing matches, drinking, getting into street fights, then passing out to do it all again the next day. It’s quite the fall from grace for last season’s main character, but it’s pretty understandable considering her sister Jinx blew up the city council at the end of season 1. The trailer ends with a longer montage of some of season 2’s action, including glimpses of a more cleaned up Vi using her signature mechanic fists again.
While none of what we see in this trailer reveals too much about where the story of Arcane season 2 will go, it does put to bed any concerns that Fortiche Studios, the animation studio behind Arcane, wouldn’t be able to live up to the impressive visuals of season 1 in its follow up. The trailer looks absolutely incredible, with dozens of tiny visual flourishes in just a couple minutes of footage. Perhaps even more excitingly, the trailer gives us a preview of one of the original songs written for the show’s second season and it absolutely rules.
Arcane season 2 will be the series finale. However, Riot and Fortiche have said that they plan to make more animated shows in the League of Legends universe, and that Arcane ending just means the conclusion of the Piltover story line.
